Catherine Bruton, DVM - Owner/Veterinarian
Dr. Catherine Bruton grew up in Raleigh and graduated from North Carolina State University’s Veterinary School in 1999. Dr. Bruton spent a year in Athens, Georgia at the University of Georgia completing an internship in large animal medicine and surgery. She was a large animal veterinarian in Apex, North Carolina from 2000-2002 and then switched species, practicing at Crossroads Veterinary Hospital in Raleigh from April 2002 until June 2006. Dr. Bruton started Brandywine Veterinary Hospital in June 2007. Catherine lives in Fremont with her boxer Kasey and cats Ping and Pippy. She also shares 4 horses and a Jersey steer, Hershey, with her family. In her extra time, she likes to be outside working in her yard and planting flowers. Catherine is active in her church and one of her favorite things to do each year is volunteering with Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox ministry.

Kara Bissett-Wheeler, DVM - Veterinarian
Dr. Kara Bissett-Wheeler is a native of Wilson. She graduated from Fike High School. She then went to NC State for her undergraduate studies and graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Bissett-Wheeler has been in small animal practice since 2000 and joined the staff at Brandywine in 2012. Dr. Bissett-Wheeler likes to spend her free time with her family. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as biking and paddle boarding as well as reading a good book. Her pets include two dogs Sheldon and Karli, two cats Scarlette and Pete, and two guinea pigs Anna and Clemson.

Renee Brantley, DVM - Veterinarian
Dr. Renee Brantley grew up in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She fell in love with veterinary medicine when she was a teenager while working in the kennel at a local vet hospital. She then attended North Carolina State University’s Veterinary School and graduated in 1999 and started her career. Dr. Brantley shares her home with her 2 sons, 7 labs, cat, and 2 hounds. When she is not working, she enjoys tending to her chickens and going thrifting.

Kasey Bruton - In Memory of the Best Doctors Office Manager, Forever In Our Hearts
Kasey Bruton worked behind the scenes at Brandywine. She spent her days in the doctor’s office on a stack of beds until she was called upon to work – sometimes donating samples to help another dog heal or being a demonstration dog. She was the first to speak to anyone new during a first visit to the clinic. She lived in Fremont with her mom and loved to spend her free time riding her golf cart. Kasey worked her entire life at Brandywine and is missed dearly by the entire staff.

Teresa Cox - Clinic Operations Coordinator
Teresa grew up in Rocky Mount and joined the Brandywine family in November 2015. After graduating from Barton College with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts concentrating in photography, she decided to pursue a career where she could put her love and experience with animals to use. Teresa has learned a lot since starting at Brandywine and enjoys learning more everyday while being able to work with the animals and their family. Teresa and her husband Kyle share their home in Elm City with their two fur babies, a lab named Scout, their cat Walker, as well as their son. When she’s not working, Teresa enjoys riding, driving, and showing her American Saddlebred horses and spending time with her family, friends, and pets.

Kimberly Oviedo - Client Service Representative
Kimberly grew up in Middlesex and graduated from Southern Nash High School. She has always loved animals which led her to join the Brandywine family in September of 2023. Kimberly’s favorite part of her job is getting to know our clients and their pets and always helping them with a smile on her face! When Kimberly is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Abel and her 2 children, Arianna and Alivor, who are her whole world. She has 6 dogs at home, Saint, an Olde English Bulldog, August and Navaeh the German Shepherds, Marleigh the Doberman, Hazel the mixed breed, and Santos the French Bulldog. Kimberly plans to one day go back to school to become a vet tech.

Lori Wiggs - Client Service Representative
Lori was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Wilson when she was 4, so a Wilson native. She joined the Brandywine team in July 2025. She loves people and animals and especially loves meeting, greeting, and helping all the clients with their fur babies. Lori always has a smile on her face. Lori also enjoys keeping two candy dishes filled daily for her awesome coworkers. She has been a licensed Zumba instructor for 13 years and in the fitness industry for over 40. Her passion is bringing the community together. She loves spending time with her family, working out, and taking her spoiled Granddog Cooper for walks at the Lake.

Molly Johnson, RVT - Veterinary Technician
Molly started at Brandywine Vet during her externship while at Nash Community College in November of 2021. She fell in love with the team immediately, and began working full time after graduating with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Medical Technology in May of 2022. Molly was born in Wilson and enjoys kayaking, fishing, spending time with family, serving in her church, and riding horses in her free time. She has four dogs — Buddy the goofy yellow lab, Lucy is her sweet shelter pup, Panda the lovable border collie, and Penny the wide open little mutt that chose her owner by showing up in her flower bed. Molly also has three cats - Smoosh is her feisty mama cat, Aslan the cookie monster, and Smidgen is the sweetest wittle man. Molly's favorite position at Brandywine is being in surgery and providing excellent care to your fur babies while recovering.

Mackenzie Mosley, RVT - Veterinary Technician
Mackenzie became a part of the Brandywine family in August of 2021. After working at Brandywine for a little over a vear, Mackenzie discovered her passion for helping animals and decided to pursue becoming a registered veterinary technician. She graduated from Nash Community College in May of 2025 and was registered in October of the same year. In her free time, she enjoys drawing and crafting with her twin sister and exploring new places with her husband.

Caleb Lamm, RVT - Veterinary Technician
Caleb has been working at Brandywine since the Summer of 2018. He graduated from Nash Community College with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2022. He is plans on pursuing a VTS in Diagnostic Imaging in the near future. Outside of Brandywine, Caleb is fishing and keeping up with everything Green Bay Packers! (Go Pack Go!) He does not currently have a pet of his own but is hoping to change that soon! In the meantime, he loves spoiling your animals like they are his own!

Marissa McVey - Veterinary Assistant
Marissa has been a part of the Brandywine family since May of 2016. She is in the process of becoming a certified veterinary technician. Marissa has always had a love for animals. In high school she was in FFA and 4-H in which she participated in many competitions such as poultry, dairy, livestock, and equine judging. Her senior year of high school she showed a turkey named June at the NC State Fair and a steer named Bean at the County Livestock Show and Sale. Marissa graduated from North Carolina State University where she completed her Associate’s degree in Livestock and Poultry Management. In Marissa’s free time she enjoys kayaking, cheering on the Wolfpack with her husband (Cole), going on walks with her pup (Willa Sue), and spending time with her kitties (Archie and Plum).

Mackenzie Hosier - Veterinary Assistant
Mackenzie has been at Brandywine since 2017 working in the kennels after school and on the weekends. She recently graduated from Hunt High School and is currently attending NC State for her undergrad majoring in Animal Science. When she is not working or in school, she enjoys volunteering with local animal rescue groups and spending time with her friends.

Madison Whitfield - Veterinary Assistant
Madison was born and raised in Wilson and graduated from Hunt High School. She loves animals and enjoys getting to know her patients and their families to be able to assist in giving them the best care. Madison shares her home with her husband and their fur kid, Maverick, the Golden Retriever. When she is not working, she enjoys going to the gym, going to the lake, and spending time with her family.

Shay Emig - Veterinary Assistant
Shay joined the Brandywine family in November of 2023 as a Veterinary Assistant. She was born and raised in Wilson NC and graduated from East Carolina University in 2023. Shay has always had a love and passion for animals and enjoyed volunteering with shelters in college. Shay and her husband Peter currently live in Wilson with their two dogs - Tate and Mocha, and their three-legged cat Nemo. Shay is excited to further her career with animals and plans to attend Appalachian State’s Vet Tech program in the fall!

Amya Reid- Veterinary Assistant
Amya joined Brandywine in July 2025. A proud graduate of Fike High School, she is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology at Appalachian State University. Her lifelong love for animals has shaped her passion for delivering compassionate, attentive care to both patients and their families. When she’s not working or studying, Amya enjoys watching horror movies and spending time with her family and her Beagle, Eliot, whose sweet personality and companionship are daily reminders of why she’s committed to helping pets feel safe, healthy, and loved.

Abby Webb - Veterinary Assistant
Abby joined the Brandywine family in March of 2023. She graduated from Hunt High School and is currently attending NC State University pursuing her degree in animal science and hopes to one day go to vet school. She loves working with the animals and working with their owners to keep them happy and healthy! Abby has 6 cats and 2 dogs at home. In her free time, she enjoys singing, spending time with friends, and shopping!

Lisa Clark - Veterinary Assistant
Lisa is a Veterinary Assistant and a retired teacher, coach and Athletic Director. She is a graduate of NC Wesleyan College and East Carolina University. She also received her certificate for Veterinary Assisting from Nash Community College, where she was introduced to Brandywine. She grew up in Maryland and moved to North Carolina for college. Lisa and her husband Greg live in Rocky Mount with their three dogs Alvin, Bron, and Chase. Lisa enjoys swimming, sewing, painting, and other crafts in her free time. She is a member of Englewood United Methodist Church in Rocky Mount.
